List of known MallBots
hmmm...
the list is gone!
why?
because it is so old and i don't edit these pages anymore
also i feel that AR games inspire greed in /games anyway
and if you are adding to that greed, you might well deserve to get hit by a bot
is this fair to say?
well... **** no and i don't care
i truly despise profit through unscrupulous means
but the list causes me far more trouble than it is worth so it is gone
ask someone else as i think there are many more lists out there
A QUICK NOTE TO THOSE WHO WERE ON THIS OR SOME OTHER MALLBOT LIST AT ONE POINT AND WHO ARE TRYING TO COMPLAIN TO ME:
i don't care. plain and simple. yeah i could care i suppose, but i don't. your actions are what got you on the lists. you may well have been sitting and obsessively checking prices to get the first buy every time on those min priced clovers or whatever, instead of running a mallbot script. still that is assinine behavior that hurts /games and detracts from people who give away everything they have to people in the channel. you want to get those great deals, understand the deals are placed there for a reason. perhaps if you take advantage of those deals and are not one of the people that they are intended for the seller may /baleet you. TOUGH ****. i am actually of the opinion that if i get many more complaints that i should put the list back up and get folks to update it, if for no other reason than to piss you off and maybe even give you a reason for your hate mail. i am noticing that it doesn't matter at all what i do as i seem to be blamed for something regardless. so here is a challenge: take responsibility for your own actions. in good faith of this, i have stated my opinions and will stand by them. in other words i take responsibility for my actions and leave to you to attempt a failed legal challenge if you so desire. having said this, i leave it to you to choose your response carefully. i am in no way joking when i say i consider putting the list back more complete than ever. obviously there are many who respect what i say and agree fully with me, otherwise this would never have been a problem for you in the first place.
what the hell is a mallbot anyway?
well a mallbot in kol terms is a bot that runs nearly continuous searches for low priced items and buys them as soon as it finds them. sounds good you say! well sure it does make meat rather quickly... however this is generally at someone elses misfortune... say you get your first mr a as a prize and instantly put it up for sale in your store, you check back and find it gone and are overjoyed that it sold so fast! then you notice that you only got 450k for it... damn a tenth of its price normally.. you pm the buyer and kmail and whine and so forth but no answer... well at least you got some meat out of the bargain. sometimes folks forget to set the price and the auto-sell rate on a mr a is 100meat... yow! now true this is due to a screw-up by the person that sold it but everyone makes mistakes occasionally and the nice thing to do is to return the mr a - this will seldom happen if bought by a mallbot because this is the type of thing that can make someone very rich with no effort which is the basic purpose of a mallbot... this makes several of us regular kolers rather sad.
now for the more complex issue... some mallbots come into chat and speak and play games and whatnot - how can this be? if it is a bot it can't really chat right? wrong! a mallbot is a regular user account that is run with scripting for botting and can be also run as a perfectly legit user account when the player so desires... in fact this often happens when a mallbot is found out about so that they can actively deny it... 'hey i'm not a mallbot! look i'm talking in chat!' or 'well how could a mallbot do this? AR!' some well known mallbots realize that some of their gain comes from very shady transactions and wish to give back to the community... i wish this were the case more often... another hard issue with mallbots is that players who use scriptish ways to play the game (mafia or greasemonkey scripts, etc..) do also have mallbot like buying power and often get accused of being mallbots because they get the first item sold in an ar rather frequently... there are also the lucky ones who just happen across the item at the right time and take advantage of it...
so... how do we distinguish mallbots from these others?
by taking a long study of buying behaviours, especially with pricy ARs... a person can't just be that lucky every day of the week at every hour of the day... and also since some of us know scripting, we are asked to write mallbot scripts for certain characters that apparently don't understand our stance on them - i will put your character on the list if you ask me to write such a script or know that you use mallbots or use such scripting here and there...
